Bad 411 Listings

Filed under: Uncategorized — ioconnor @ 6:18 pm

Business listings that have not changed in decades are now wrong. Not just innocently wrong but being directed to the competition. So if you call up for Business X in City-Y, State-Z you are likely to get their competition. And the text message will say “Business X” but with the competitions telephone number. Apparently these 411 companies are taking money for these listings. (Taking bribes.) However you can bribe them back to the decades old correct listing for $5 to $50 a month.

I find this disgusting. Even when paying Verizon Yellow Pages over 7K a year their 411 service gives out the competition. Even when you have the Verizon Yellow Pages account rep try to fix it they get blown off. It’s like little fiefdoms within Verizon. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.

I’m now trying this http://vip1.411listyourself.com/. I’ll see if in 72 hours it has done what Verizon itself can’t do…
