Linux Mint 13 “Maya” – Xfce (32-bit) is Fantastic.

I have a very slow laptop with a 64 bit AMD CPU. It is the only laptop I have with an AMD chip. On paper it looks good. In reality it runs less than good. The old OS died when it went to install the updates on it so I decided to try Linux Mint 13 “Maya” – Xfce (32-bit). Much to my surprise the Xfce interface runs the graphical programs much faster than the old OS. So I can watch Hulu in full screen mode. And the interface is sufficiently like good old fashioned Ubuntu that there are no learning curves. I’ve downloaded Chrome, LinPhone, Skype, and a few other apps and they all work fine. So Xfce handles everything I do just fine. This version of Linux might be the current sweet spot for the general laptop user…
