Synergy Problems with Windows 7

Filed under: Uncategorized — ioconnor @ 3:05 pm

Windows 7 is not friendly to a default install of Synergy Client. Though Synergy works most of the time it does not when running a game or some other intensive task or perhaps improperly coded application. As long as the foreground is running something solid like a spreadsheet Synergy runs fine. Googling for answers did not turn up anything useful unless you bought the high end version of Windows 7 that comes with a complete set of tools.

The solution was easy though. Simply pull up the process monitor by doing the ctl-alt-del with a keyboard directly connected to the machine. Then find the synergy client and mark it to run in real time as administrator. Restart the system and toss the directly connected keyboard since everything should be working via the centralized Synergy keyboard.
