What a surprise. Change we can believe in. The audacity of hope.

Barack Obama gave the go-ahead for his first military action yesterday, missile strikes against suspected militants in Pakistan which killed at least 18 people. Four days after assuming the presidency, he was consulted by US commanders before they launched the two attacks. Although Obama has abandoned many of the “war on terror” policies of George Bush while he was president, he is not retreating from the hunt for Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaida leaders.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – President Hamid Karzai condemned a U.S. operation he said killed 16 Afghan civilians, while hundreds of villagers denounced the American military during an angry demonstration Sunday.

Karzai said the killing of innocent Afghans during U.S. military operations “is strengthening the terrorists.”

Military intelligence. Why can’t we just simply take aerial photographs and put together convincing proof before we do anything. Hopefully this is being done and being supplied to somebody so they can make informed decisions. I bet it is not though. I bet we are just killing to kill and make a mess so we can continue our wars. If it were legitimate they’d post the proofs. It’s not like our enemies can avoid our spy planes and gadgets. If we have legitimate proof there can be no denying it. Without legitimate proof it’s just another game our leaders are playing yet again.

This reminds me of another article mentioning torturing will not be condoned like it was under the Bush administration. That will now be illegal. Instead it must be approved by his attorney general. Glad things have changed.
