Google Map Errors

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — ioconnor @ 1:19 pm

Google maps are great. They could be so much better though if there were a way to report errors with them. A link where you could report the problem. You’d think by now they would have included such a link.

Perhaps they figure they can’t do anything about it until their maps are updated or something along these lines. Wouldn’t it be neat if they were secure enough with their software to include links to others like mapquest, yahoo, and others?

Then there is their inability to intelligently figure out user errors. Like for instance if you don’t know the exact spelling of the street. You’d think they’d be able to do the equivalent of an agrep so slight spelling errors would not stop you. It’s worse than that though. In many cases you have to include whether the street has a “st”, “dr”, “ave”, “cir” etc., etc., etc. or else it pretends it returns no search results.

How about a little database maintenance too? Wouldn’t that alert them to the fact they have many many streets that simply have no street name? Or vice versa. How about all those addresses you can find yet google has no streets for them.

Google maps are great but they really should go that extra little bit…
