The computer is too slow to run Ubuntu 11.10 under VMWare. It can be run but everything, even dragging a window, is too much for it. Instead it repaints the window a few seconds after you release the mouse. That’s after VMWare tools & utilities have been loaded to speed up the computer and windows 7 has been set for performance over GUI candy. So if you believe, like me, that windows is a virus magnet and should only be used to run linux under VMWare this computer is not for you.
The laptop does run Windows 7 passably well. It also powers an additional large monitor besides its own nicely sized monitor. So if you only need this laptop to handle paperwork and a few peripherals it will do the job nicely. Anything else and you need a faster computer…
